THE SPRINKLING OF BLOOD

INTRODUCTION

All emphasis are authors unless otherwise stated.

In the last lesson we learned that the sprinkling of Christ’s blood was necessary for the confessed sin to be transferred from the sinner to the sanctuary where it remained on record until the Great Day of Atonement which ended the years ceremonies for sin. These rituals represented the very end of Christ’s work of salvation which will end when Christ returns to this earth. But in the Jewish economy the very next day began a new round of services all over again.

We discussed the fact that the last day prophet has told us that there will be many cherished beliefs that we will have to give up and many, many that we will have to learn. Only God is infallible with perfect understanding of all things! We also learned that we must have the mind of Christ within us. This can only be accomplished by study and assimilating and integrating the truths of the Bible into our own minds. We learned that Jesus is the word of God, and that is the Bible. It being the word of God, we must incorporate all the truths of the Bible only to have the mind of God within.

We discovered that the 144,000 are to bear the sins of the people as did the priest bear the sins of the Israel. They accepted the peoples sins as if they were their own sins. The last day priests carry all the sins of all generations past to be blotted out in the final Day of Atonement. There is grave responsibility born by the 144,000. This is symbolized in the same way Moses went to make an atonement for Israel after the golden calf worship at Mt. Sinai.

Bearing the sins of the people does not mean that the earthly priest forgave their sins, only God can do that, but they bore them to Christ for His forgiveness and cleansing. And why are they able to do this? It is be-cause they have perfected obedience to all of God’s requirements and have developed the most perfect Christ-like character of all generations past!

At the end of the last lesson we discovered that we do not escape the first death because of Christ’s giving His life on the cross. His death has redeemed us from the second death only. The law cannot be changed, it cannot be abrogated, the soul that sinneth must die. The Adamic soul of man must die because any sin or even the memory of sin cannot enter heaven. Even the Adamic soul of Enoch and that of Elijah had to die before they were translated!

Let us pray

Holy Father, please send Your spirit to be with each one who reads this lesson that we all may think Your thoughts after You! For this to happen the holy spirit must be given to us, please pour Your spirit upon us that we may understand. If we have sinned in any way, holy Father, and offended You please forgive and cleans from all sin. I make this supplication in the name of Christ Your beloved Son. Amen.

On the last page of the previous study I gave two texts John 3:16; and John 5:24 as examples for believing that Christ died therefore, we are exempt from the penalty of the law that demands that the sinner must die. We need to understand that these same two texts are really supporting the death of the Adamic life in the following way. In the final work of atonement Ellen states; “the clams of the law that demand the life of the sinner are satisfied.” These words are referring to the adamic life of the sinner being forfeited at that time and the work of Christ implanting the divine nature within each of His struggling repentant sinners. (see Zechariah 3: 4, 5) Then can be said they will never again be subject to Satan’s temptations for they will be eternally secure from Satan and his harassment.

Matthew 5: 17, 18. “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

NOTE: The cleansing (or atonement) of the soul temple is as much a part of God’s word as is the law. Neither one is to be broken or disregarded for they are the Word of God. The last act of the atonement is the replacement of the fallen nature of Adam with the divine nature of God. This is realized in the removal of all the memory of sin in the mind and the blotting out of all record of sin in the books of heaven! We are new creatures (reborn) of God just like Adam in the beginning. It will be as if we had never sinned.

For this operation of God to take place the patient must come to the place in his life that he has enmity, or hatred, for Satan and his kingdom. Of every form of his tyranny over the mind of man. When we become so filled with intense hatred of everything related to Sa-tan’s kingdom, when we despise every form of his deceit and long for deliverance from every form of his rebellion against the God we have come to love, then will we plead with God for the end of his kingdom and the death of our fallen soul and the implanting of the divine nature to take its place within. This must be of our own desire and not from any form of force on God’s part, it must be of our own voluntary volition.

Early Writings 270: 4. “Their countenances expressed the severe conflict which they had endured, the agonizing struggle they had passed through. Yet their features, marked with severe internal anguish, now shone with the light and glory of heaven. They had obtained the victory, and it called forth from them the deepest gratitude and holy, sacred joy.” {EW 270.4}.

NOTE: If they are joyful and full of gratitude, they must know they are victorious over sin. So yes, they know they are sinless at this time.

EW 271: 1, 2. “The numbers of this company had lessened. Some had been shaken out and left by the way. The careless and indifferent, who did not join with those who prized victory and salvation enough to perseveringly plead and agonize for it, did not ob-tain it, and they were left behind in darkness, and their places were immediately filled by others taking hold of the truth and coming into the ranks. Evil angels still pressed around them, but could have no power over them. {EW 271.1}.

“I heard those clothed with the armor speak forth the truth with great power. It had effect. Many had been bound; some wives by their husbands, and some children by their parents. The honest who had been prevented from hearing the truth now eagerly laid hold upon it. All fear of their relatives was gone, and the truth alone was exalted to them. They had been hungering and thirsting for truth; it was dearer and more precious than life. I asked what had made this great change. An angel answered, “It is the latter rain, the refreshing from the presence of the Lord, the loud cry of the third angel.” {EW 271.2}.

NOTE: These who are won to God are most assuredly the unnumbered multitude spoken of in Revelation.
Revelation 7: 9,10. “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.”

NOTE: “After this.” These words are said immediately after the 144,000 are sealed meaning that this multitude are formed after the 144,000, and are won through their witness. Therefore, they are not both of the same group representing all the saved but are two separate groups. These are the second and third wit-nesses God must have to testify in God’s favor that the destruction of Satan’s kingdom is legal and valid! They are the proof that God’s law can be kept by every living creature, even fallen sinful man.
When we have progressed in sanctification to this level of love and commitment, then will it be safe for Christ to give us the divine nature and destroy the fallen nature of the soul that we all received from Adam. This is the blotting out of sin in the mind and from the records in heaven for we are a new creature without sin.

Hebrews 9: 14. “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.”

Note: Listen to what is said of those who receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Revelation 14: 5. “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”

Our High Calling 150: 5, 6. “When a man is filled with the Spirit, the more severely he is tested and tried, the more clearly he proves that he is a representative of Christ. The peace that dwells in the soul is seen on the countenance. The words and actions express the love of the Saviour…. Self is renounced. The name of Jesus is written on all that is said and done. {OHC 150.5}.

NOTE: A man is tested to see if he is proven obedient then when he is proven obedient to God’s Word, he is tried by Satan for the purpose of showing that he is obedient or if not obedient. God allows Satan to test every person who has gained the final cleansing of the atonement to prove that his people will never sin again. It is as if God tells Satan, “Here are my witnesses proving My law can be kept, you can test them any way you want, but you cannot kill them for they are my living testimony that fallen sinful man can obey the law regardless of circumstances!

Let us continue in OHC:  “We may talk of the blessings of the Holy Spirit, but unless we prepare ourselves for its reception, of what avail are our works? Are we striving with all our power to attain to the stature of men and women in Christ? Are we seeking for His fullness, ever pressing toward the mark set before us—the perfection of His character?

NOTE: At this point the victors are ready for the time of trouble when they are tested as was Jacob by the assaults of the enemy! Let us conclude in OHC. “When the Lord’s people reach this mark, they will be sealed in their foreheads. Filled with the Spirit, they will be complete in Christ, and the recording angel will declare, “It is finished.” {OHC 150.6}.

NOTE: They are now forever removed from Satan’s tyranny, oppression and influence. They are forever free from his harassment.

Review & Herald JANUARY 9, 1908: 10, 11. “As the people of God afflict their souls before him, pleading for purity of heart, the command is given, ‘Take away the filthy garments’ from them, and the encouraging words are spoken, ‘Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.’ The spotless robe of Christ’s righteousness is placed upon the tried, tempted, yet faithful children of God. The despised remnant are clothed in glorious apparel, nevermore to be defiled by the corruptions of the world. Their names are retained in the Lamb’s book of life, enrolled among the faithful of all ages. They have resisted the wiles of the deceiver; they have not been turned from their loyalty by the dragon’s roar. Now they are eternally secure from the tempter’s devices. Their sins are transferred to the originator of sin. And the remnant are not only pardoned and accepted, but honored. A “fair miter” is set upon their heads. They are to be as kings and priests unto God. While Satan was urging his accusations, holy angels, unseen, were passing to and fro, placing upon them the seal of the living God. These are they that stand upon Mount Zion with the Lamb, having the Father’s name written in their fore-heads. They sing the new song before the throne, that song which no man can learn save the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. ‘These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the first-fruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile’ for they are without fault before the throne of God.’ (A DISCRIPTION REPRESENTING THE 144,000). {RH January 9, 1908, par. 10}.

“Now is reached the complete fulfilment of those words of the Angel: ‘Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.’ Christ is revealed as the Redeemer and Deliverer of his people. Now indeed are the remnant ‘men wondered at,’ as the tears and humiliation of their pilgrimage give place to joy and honor in the presence of God and the Lamb. ‘In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem.’” (Isaiah 4: 3). {RH January 9, 1908, par. 11}.

NOTE: This all takes place during the final phase of the atonement. When the final application of the sprinkling of Christ’s blood in behalf of the sinner. It is the final eradication of all sin from the individual.

1st Corinthians 15: 20-22. “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

NOTE: Christ is the first witness that the law can be kept by men. There must be two more! “In Adam all die”, all does not exempt anyone. Everyone moves from death to life!

John 3: 3-7. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”

NOTE: This truth (that we must die) is like the one true God doctrine, once you have understood it as truth you see it everywhere in the Bible and you wonder how you were deceived by thinking that the last generation was somehow exempt from death. Sa-tan is very cleaver; he will invent every wind of doc-trine to mislead even the very elect if possible.

Question. How does God save us and still maintain full obedience to His immutable law? The answer is found in the sanctuary service and the sprinkling of blood in the daily service and also in the yearly ser-vice of the final atonement.  A very important point we need to understand. In order to reap the benefits of the Daily service as well as the Day of Atonement benefits is, we have to die!

Why is the sprinkling of the blood so important? Be-cause it not only represents Christ life and death but it also symbolizes the death of the sinner as well! We have to pass from death to life. Let me explain. Christ created us. He also sustains our very existence every daily. Now if the God who maintains your life were to die, what is going to happen to the lives that He is sustaining? If he is dead then everyone who is de-pendent on Him for life also must die!

Romans 6: 4. “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Colossians 2: 10-12. “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”

Leviticus 17: 11, 14. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: V. 14. For it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.”

NOTE: In Romans and Colossians we see that we are partakers in the death of Christ. We see in Leviticus 17 that the life is in the blood. Now if that blood is administered within us by the sprinkling of it, then the life that is in the blood becomes our life and the Adamic life is killed. We are born again into a new person and so we fulfill the law that states, “the man that sinneth shall die.” I hope you can see and under-stand this, the Adamic soul that we all have must die. Otherwise we could never be without the memory of sin. We could never be a new person fit for heaven! Let me belabor this point. The soul, the will, appetite, passion, personality, character, the activity of the mind, the desire and emotions make up the Adamic life. These must die and be replaced with the divine nature, the will, appetite, passion, personality, character, the activity of the divine mind, the desire, and emotions of divinity. This is a tough order but it must be realized. God has promised to do this in His Word which can never fails. This is the final act in the atonement. Now the saints are ready for the time of Jacobs trouble and are ready to stand before God without a mediator.

EW 269: 1, -270: 1. “I saw some, with strong faith and agonizing cries, pleading with God. Their countenances were pale and marked with deep anxiety, expressive of their internal struggle. Firmness and great earnestness was expressed in their countenances; large drops of perspiration fell from their foreheads. Now and then their faces would light up with the marks of God’s approbation, and again the same solemn, earnest, anxious look would settle upon them. {EW 269.1}

“Evil angels crowded around, pressing darkness upon them to shut out Jesus from their view, that their eyes might be drawn to the darkness that surrounded them, and thus they be led to distrust God and murmur against Him. Their only safety was in keeping their eyes directed upward. Angels of God had charge over His people, and as the poisonous atmosphere of evil angels was pressed around these anxious ones, the heavenly angels were continually wafting their wings over them to scatter the thick darkness. {EW 269.2}

“As the praying ones continued their earnest cries, at times a ray of light from Jesus came to them, to encourage their hearts and light up their countenances. Some, I saw, did not participate in this work of agonizing and pleading. They seemed indifferent and careless. They were not resisting the darkness around them, and it shut them in like a thick cloud. (false belief, false doctrines, the wine of Babylon) The angels of God left these and went to the aid of the earnest, praying ones. I saw angels of God hasten to the assistance of all who were struggling with all their power to resist the evil angels and trying to help themselves by calling upon God with perseverance. But His an-gels left those who made no effort to help them-selves, and I lost sight of them.” {EW 270.1}.

EW 270: 4. “Said the angel, “List ye!” Soon I heard a voice like many musical instruments all sounding in perfect strains, sweet and harmonious. It surpassed any music I had ever heard, seeming to be full of mercy, compassion, and elevating, holy joy. It thrilled through my whole being. Said the angel, “Look ye!” My attention was then turned to the company I had seen, who were mightily shaken. I was shown those whom I had before seen weeping and praying in agony of spirit. The company of guardian angels around them had been doubled, and they were clothed with an armor from their head to their feet. They moved in exact order, like a company of soldiers. Their countenances expressed the severe conflict which they had endured, the agonizing struggle they had passed through. Yet their features, marked with severe internal anguish, now shone with the light and glory of heaven. They had obtained the victory, and it called forth from them the deepest gratitude and holy, sacred joy. {EW 270.4}.

NOTE: They know they have gained the victory be-cause it calls forth joy. How can you have joy over victory if you don’t know the victory! “The guardian angels around them had been doubled.” Where do we find two angles in the sanctuary guarding something? It is at the Ark of the Covenant where God’s law is kept! Now the two guardian angels are on either side of the overcomers. They are the living testimony that fallen sinful man can obey God’s law. That same law written within the ark of the covenant, is written within each one of the 144,000. They are men wondered at for the Branch (Christ) is brought forth! Zechariah 3: 8.

NOTE: Those who have been prevented from hearing the truth now eagerly laid hold upon the truth. These are the people that make up the un-numbered multitude. They are the third witness proving that God’s law can be kept by fallen sinful humanity. The first witness was Christ, the second were the 144,000 and the third are these. Remember there are to be two or three witnesses to establish the validity of a thing and these have established that the law is just and good and right and honorable and can be kept by fallen sinful man. They are God’s witness to establish His justice and right to destroy Satan’s kingdom along with the wicked! There are no more arguments that Satan can give to defend his rebellion. This is what God has waited all these millennia to show forth His justice in destroying Satan, his kingdom, and his rebellion forever!

I hope you can see the beauty in this atonement of the sprinkling of blood in the sanctuary service. This rep-resents Christ’s work of applying His blood for cleansing the soul sanctuary that God may once again dwell within humanity. That Shekinah glory which was Adam’s robe of light will once again be restored to Gods’ children.

There are many more scripture texts and spirit of prophecy quotes that may be cited to affirm the valid-ity of the death of the Adamic nature. I will list some for your personal study:

Romans 5: 8; 6: 1-6; Ephesians 4: 11-15; Colossians 1: 27, 28; 2: 9, 10; 4: 12; Hebrews 6: 1, 18-20; 9: 9-14, 27, 28; 10; 2-4, 10-12; Matthew 5: 17; Jesus does not nullify any part of the law, the soul that sinneth must die. Zechariah 3: 1-5, special emphasis on verse 4.

In the Spirit of Prophecy:  Desire of Ages 181:1; Acts of the Apostles 49:3; 470: 1; Christian Education 77:2; Patriarchs & Prophets 355: 5, SENTENCE 4. Please read all of pages 355 and 356. This is how the clams of the law are fulfilled. The filthy garments are taken away and NEW RAIMENT is given (see Zechariah 3:4). The robes are not washed as in conversion but new robs are put on! This is the new character; it is the divine nature being implanted in the human! Thus, the Adamic soul of Adam is put to death and we are forever free from Satan’s harassment of sin. The con-science is free from even the memory of sin! Glorious day, wonderful promise.

IN CONCLUSION
I hope you can understand the view of Jesus dying in our place so that we do not have to die is an oversimplified idea of what happens in the final atonement. It is the understanding and belief of the evangelical view of Christ’s death on the cross finishing the atonement. That nothing else is necessary for salvation. This completely eliminates the need for the application of the blood shed on calvary. It bypasses the administration performed by the priest sprinkling of blood. Without the sprinkling of the blood of Christ there is no remission of sins we are yet in sin.

This cleansing takes place during the final atonement which most Christians deny. Therefore, it is the operation preformed for those living in the last generation on the earth before Jesus returns. We cannot have a wrong view of the atonement. We must understand what Christ is doing for us in the most holy place in the heavenly sanctuary in order to be his children. Remember truth is Jesus and the truth will set you free from sin and the second death.

I have asked the Lord to give me clarity of expression so that all may understand that the demands of the law will be met and fulfilled during the final atonement before the time of trouble when we stand before the Father without Jesus as our mediator. Please con-sider that the sprinkling of the blood of Christ on the Ark of the Covenant and before it seven times has a three fold application in our lives:

1. The claims of the law that demand the life of the sinner are fulfilled! The command—”take away the filthy garments and give him change of raiment” is performed. The Adamic life (soul) of Adam is forever destroyed and we are given the divine nature (mind) of Christ
2. Sins are canceled and blotted out because we have died! Our Adamic fallen natures are forever destroyed. The demands of the law have been fulfilled. Our sins have been canceled because we have been recreated. There is no sin in them, since there is no sin that has been committed by the new creation there is no need to keep the old records of sin because our debt to the law has been fully paid. All are fully released from the condemnation of the law!
3. Sin dwelling in me is totally eradicated. The only way that can happen is for my soul to die! When the Adamic life, sin in me, is dead, there is no hindrance to character perfection. See Matthew 10: 39; 16: 25.

I hope you can see how the final atonement takes care of the entire sin problem within. This is all accomplished by the application of the sprinkled blood during the final atonement. This is an experience no people have experienced in past generations. The 144,000 are the first to experience this wonderful privilege after them the great multitude are also cleansed. This is how we experience the Gospel and the law as one unit. One does not cancel the other. Both are fulfilled completely!

The question is, will we agonize and plead with God for this experience? What is the condition we must come to for this to be accomplished in our lives? We have only two choices:
1. We can repeatedly ignore the call to afflict the soul before God and be zealous and repent and live with no reference to the judgment and have the Adamic life taken away in the lake of fires after the millennium.
2. We can choose to allow Christ to change our filthy garments in the time of probation will He mediating in the heavenly sanctuary. This is the only time that He will take away the filthy garments and give us a change of raiment! SO, WHICH WILL IT BE?

Let us pray:
Father, what can I say! I pray that You will, by Your holy spirit, draw all to make the commitment to have the Adamic life destroyed now while probation lasts. Dear Father, cause all Your children to choose to follow Jesus into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary. To afflict the soul for the remission of sin and cleansing of the fallen nature of man. Cause us not to procrastinate and receive the destruction of the adamic soul in hell fire when all things are cleansed. Father we have that choice before us, help us to choose wisely. I ask this in the name of Jesus Your only begotten Son. Amen.
